There are many benefits to Tv wall mounting from making it look better to making it easier to watch. It's also very cheap, with many good mounting options selling for $100 or less. Whether you have a simple tilting wall mount or a fully articulated, dual-arm mount with a full range of motion and positions, the basic steps for installing this hardware are pretty much the same.

How to Hang a Tv on a Wall

Once you have everything you need and have figured out the basics, like where you want to put the Tv and how the Tv wall mounting goes together, you're ready to mount the Tv. It's a pretty simple process, but doing it right will make the difference between an attractively mounted Tv and one that may not sit right or even damage the Tv.

1. Locate the studs:

You can easily find the location of the studs by using a cheap stud finder or another method. Find out how many studs you need by counting the mounting points on the Tv wall bracket. For most, it will be a span of two studs, one on the left and one on the right. Depending on the way your walls are built and the Tv wall mounting you choose, it may need to span three studs.

2. Mark the location of the hole:

Next, you'll need to make a mark on the wall where you want to put the screws. If possible, you should use a level to make sure that these marks are even between the two studs and that the amount won't be tilted. You can use a pencil to mark where the pilot holes will go on the Tv wall mounting, or you can tape a piece of paper over the intended mounting spot and use a pre-printed template or make your own.

3. Check the position of the brackets twice:

Now that you've made your marks, you can put the mounting bracket on the wall. First, put the bracket flat against the wall, making sure that one of the screw holes lines up with the first hole that has been marked. Keeping that point still, move the other side of the bracket as needed to line up with the second hole. Use a level to make sure that the mount is level when it is lined up with the pilot holes you want to drill.

4. Drill pilot holes:

You'll need to use a drill to make pilot holes in the right places through the drywall and into the studs.

5. Put the bracket on the wall:

After you've drilled the pilot holes, you'll use the mounting screws that came with the wall bracket to put it in place. Using a power drill, screwdriver, or ratchet, drive the wall screws into the studs to securely attach the bracket to the wall.

6. Put the Tv wall mounting plate on the Tv:

Next, put the TV's mounting plate on it.This is the other part of the Tv wall mounting. It goes on the back of the TV and connects to the wall bracket so that the TV can be hung on the wall securely. Depending on the type of mount you are using, the two halves may be connected by a simple clip, a rail system, or even an arm that can be extended.

7. Put the Tv mounting plate on the wall mount:

Now that both the wall bracket and the Tv wall mounting plate are in place, all that's left to do is connect the two. Start by raising the Tv to the right height, or just a little bit higher than where you want it to be, so you can lower it to attach the bracket and plate.

In some cases, this will be a drop-in connector with safety screws that can be tightened after the connection has been made. In other cases, this will be a connection that clips or screws into place. Make sure to read the instructions that came with the Tvmount and use the hardware that came with it to connect the plate to the bracket.

8. Hook up the Tv:

At this point, all that's left to do is plug the Tv wall mounting and any other devices that might need power back in. After that, you can sit back and watch Tv on the new wall mount.
